Today I decided to do something I had been contemplating for days. One of my coworkers gave me a gift card to a store for Christmas. I wasn't sure if it would be appropriate to give that card away since it was a gift. However, I finally decided to just do it. So today I walked into the store and began pacing the countless isles. I thought to myself I am never going to decide who to give it to.
As I was walking through the isles something hit me, literally. I was in the toy isle and this little girl was asking for a play money set, and that was it. I walked up to the front and played eeny meany minny mo to pick a register. So when I landed on register 9 I thought how appropriate (because it is my favorite number). I walked up to the register, handed the cashier the gift card and said "I would love to use this towards another persons expenses. Could you please spend this money?" She looked at me with a puzzled look and then said yes, and well...I walked away.
I decided I didn't want to know who the person was standing there, or who she would chose to use it towards, or if she would keep it. To e honest, because it didn't matter. Either way someone else was going to have a better day, and that was all that mattered to me.
