Today I decided to send one of my mentors from high school flowers. My hometown is far away from where I live currently, but I had been thinking about her recently. This woman has been one of the most influential educators and mentors in my life. She has recently retired and so I decided to send her some holiday flowers. When I called to order the flowers the lady asked me what I wanted to say to her. Well that is a loaded question. If I saw her in person it would be so much. I owe her so much of the woman that I have become. I sat there silently to the point where the woman asked if I was still on the line. I said yes, stumbled for a few seconds on my words and finally came up with..."Thank you, remember you are loved. Merry Christmas."
While these words seem to be so silly, it was all that I could come up with. Even though I didn't sign the card, I know that she will appreciate it. She has touched so many people's lives. Her legacy is one that will be remembered for decades at my former high school. So, thank you and Merry Christmas!
