This blog is dedicated to sharing acts, ideas, and memories of being kind to one another. Kindness at its very core is done unto others, and that is exactly what I'm going to do; show kindness to complete strangers.

December 5-stay warm
Today I left work and still had not done my random act for the day. As I was driving down the road towards the highway I got stopped at a light. When I looked over to my right there was a girl who I recognized from one of the soup kitchens that I volunteer at on a weekly basis. I pulled over and began to talk to her. I noticed she didn't have a coat on. It is beginning to snow and this 16 year old is sitting outside without a coat on. As she and I were talking I began to think about all the times I have seen her, and I realized I had never seen her wear a coat. As our conversation came to an end, I took off my hoodie (one I had from High School) and handed it to her. At first she looked at me like I was crazy. When I told her to take it she tried to give it back saying "no, I can't..." I said sure you can. She looked at me with sad eyes and smiled. I told her Merry Christmas and God Bless and pulled away. As I drove away I could see her put on her new hoodie and snuggle up to it like it was a plush down comforter. What a great act, to see her warm and smile for one of the few times I have ever seen. That hoodie had treated me well for many years, but now it can treat her even better.
