Decmeber 10-Thank you (mall style)

Today I went to the mall to do some shopping. Now I have worked in retail before, and it is a crazy job to have-especially during the holidays. So, when I was all finished with my shopping I took my bags to the car, got it and almost started my car. However, I realized that I had not done my random act for the day and decided that this was it. I got back out of my car and marched back into the mall. I started with Dillards...I walked around the store and thanked every employee. I did this to EVERY store in the mall. I walked into over 120 stores to say thank you. this was no small task, but I did it.
It was so cool to see the looks on people's faces when I walked up to them and simply said thank you. Most of them didn't know what to say or how to even react. One old man looked at me and shed a tear. He said not a single person had said hello, thank you, please, or anything to him all day. I honestly had to fight back a tear at this moment. This sweet old man who was working so hard to make our shopping lives easier had not had one nice word said to him. So I said Merry Christmas, hugged him and left.
I'm so glad that I did this random act. I know that I had at first thought to myself that there was no way that I could do it all in a little over 2 hours before the mall closed. However, I did do it! I knew I had to do it. I just tried to imagine how I would have felt if I would have received that simple thank you while I was working during the holidays.  So remember, for those of you reading this, thank the people who are working so hard to make this shopping season the best it can be for you.
