Well, it's here! My first day of a month of Random Acts of Kindness. Today has been a day of travel for me as I'm sure it is for many people. Coming home from the holidays can be really stressful. So, I stopped at a Chipotle on my way to stop for a late lunch. There weren't a ton of people there, but there were a few people behind me. As I began to order I couldn't help but overhear the young woman next to me (who looked to be about my age) telling her mother she didn't want to go back to school because she wanted to stay at home to be with her after what happened. That was all I needed to hear. I went to pay for my meal and quietly told the cashier I wanted to pay for the girl behind me as well. At first the cashier looked at me a little strange because we were obviously not together. I said again that I wanted to pay for her. I paid and began to walk away. The cashier handed the woman her meal and said "That lady just paid for you". The young woman looked at me and I simply said Merry Christmas. The smile on her face was priceless as she said thank you.
I could hear her telling her mother what had just happened as I walked out the door. We met once again as we just happened to park next to each other. Her mother simply looked at me and said "It's so nice to know that there are kind people in the world." I smiled and thanked her for the kind words and again said Merry Christmas.
While this act was simple, it has made me so excited for the rest of the month!
so awesome! can't wait to hear more :)
